How To Grow Ginger in Home Garden

We can easily grow ginger in home garden easily, all we need is some pots, Good Quality of potting mix & perfect place to grow. We see all these aspect in detail. 

Seedling: 

We can use the ginger we get from store. Take a piece of ginger soak it in water for over night and put it in zip lock bag & keep in fridge until you you see some white sprout around the edges. 

Take plastic cup or Small size pot filled with compost 

Plant the ginger in compost facing the sprouted area on top

cover the ginger with fine organic compost. 

Allow to grow in the small pot for a month. 

Soil: 

The Perfect soil for ginger is loose, loamy, and rich in organic nutrients. Loose soils allow water to drain properly, which will help prevent from becoming waterlogged. Mulch also can provide nutrients, retain water, and help control weeds.

Transplantation: 

You can transplant ginger after a month or two. Make sure you have a decent size grow bag or container to grow ginger. since it root plant the well-sized container helps to get more and more ginger.

Ginger Plant Care: 

  • Water When the topsoil dry. 
  • Spray Rich organic Liquid fertilizer’s every month of planting ( After transplanting )
  • Spray neem oil if you found any pest around the plant. 
  • Keep it in direct sunlight 
  • If the soil is thick try loosen up. 
  • Watch the plant growing every day. Your day of harvest will come soon. 

Harvesting: 

You can harvest Ginger anywhere from 90-120 days of sowing. 

You will see the top leaves turning brown, stop watering in that time allow the roots to expand a bit and then make your harvest. 

wash the ginger thoroughly and store it in a dry place.
